Safety Patrol

St. Agnes students give service as a safety patrol. Duties before (A.M.) and after (P.M.) school assure the safety of children coming and going from the school. Patrols are asked to be on time during the weeks assigned. Check back here for regularly updated schedules.

Directives for Patrols

Think safety first.
Be prompt. Your duty begins at 7:40 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Be prepared.

A.M. Patrol – open car doors safely; help students out carefully to help traffic flow; set out cones; greet persons cheerfully.

P.M. Patrol – set out / pick up cones promptly; help direct traffic flow. Think safety first.

Assist teachers on duty. Listen and follow directions. Be prompt; be prepared. Remember, as the weather gets cooler/colder, proper clothing is needed.

CAUTION – avoid visiting with duty partners. Your job is important for the short time you are there. Think safety first.

You model quiet, courteous, and safe behavior for younger students.

Your help is greatly needed and always truly appreciated.

All 7th and 8th grade students are expected to serve during the school year. The 6th grade students will serve patrol duty with 7th grade during the later portion of the school year.

* Please notify Ms. Harris or Ms. Rang, as soon as possible, about absences/appointments that may cause conflicts during your weekly duty period.

Description of A.M. Patrol Duties

North Library Car Drop Off Area

  • Arrive on duty by 7:40 a.m.
  • Open car doors for students
  • Greet students cheerfully with "Good Morning!"
  • Assist little children with backpacks
  • Keep little children on sidewalk and away from moving cars
  • Close car doors carefully
  • Watch for your safety always
  • Stay on duty until teachers release you

Church Drop Off Area

  • Arrive on duty by 7:40 a.m.
  • Help place cones out to guide cars to continue around to the North Library Car Drop Off Area
  • Stay on duty until teachers release you

Pick-up Cones

Zero Hour 8th Grade students, or 7th Graders, will collect cones and place them inside the PE Office.

East Door Duty

  • Arrive on duty by 7:40 a.m.
  • Open doors for students/ teachers lined up there
  • Greet students / teachers cheerfully with "Good Morning!"
  • Stay on duty until 8:00 a.m. bell rings, then close the doors
  • Direct any late students / parents to the main door
  • Do not allow students in the East Doors after the 8:00 a.m. bell, they are considered tardy and must check in at the office

Description of P.M. Patrol Duties

  • Set Out Cones / Church Parking Area
  • Pick up cones from PE Office at 3:00 p.m.
  • Two 8th Grade students set out 4 cones in the far drive area
  • Two 7th Grade students set out 3 cones nearest the church
  • Stay on duty until teachers release you
  • Collect cones and place them inside the PE Office

At 3:05 p.m., duty teacher (Ms. Harris) to monitor carline area

East Door Duty

  • Arrive on duty by 3:05 p.m.
  • Two students will hold doors open for the students leaving the building
  • Patrol duty students may leave when all other students have departed safely
